To fix the damaged screw holes, you can cut a wooden dowel into pieces of 1 inch and then drill into the hole that was stripped. Spread the carpenter's adhesive over the dowel, and then tap it in place with the Hammer.

Another reason for a loose hinge is worn hinge pins. The best way to fix a worn-out hinge is to replace the pin. You can buy new hinge pins from hardware stores or on the internet. Rebated Hinges

Rebated hinges are a common choice for doors that must be placed inside frames for doors that have been built around them. The hinges are positioned within the frame to ensure that they do not overlap the sash of the door when they are they are open. They are then fixed onto the edges of the door. These hinges are suitable for uPVC or timber as well as aluminium doors and are available in various sizes to accommodate various widths of doorsash.

These hinges are an excellent option for doors that require more adjustment than standard butt hinges provide. They are a great choice for doors with chamfer features that do not allow the use of traditional butt hinges. They come with a metal dust cap and can be adjusted in 3 planes and can support up to 60kg for each pair. They are easy to install and are suitable for right or left-hand doors, RH/LH.

I have some old doors that had the hinge recesses cut too deep and then splinted. They are quite heavy frames embedded in the wall of an old building, so replacement is not really an option. Flag Hinges

UPVC hinges can be used to upgrade or replace hinges currently in use. Many newer uPVC doors come with slimline hinges that are adjustable. If you're not sure what type of filler you should choose, you can consult an expert at a hardware store. You can also choose a filler with more gloss to give your door a polished look. You can also cover the gap with wood. This is slightly more expensive, however it will make your door appear brand new.

Recess Hinges

Install your new hinges following cleaning the area. Test the door to make sure it works. Make sure that the sash meets the frame on both the top and bottom, and that it doesn't have any gaps or catches on the hinge in any way, as this could indicate that your uPVC door isn't in alignment and needs to be adjusted.

The most efficient way to test this is to use the spirit level, which you can purchase at a low cost from many hardware stores. Simply place the level on top of the door and observe if there are any differences in height between the frame and the door, this is an indication that the hinges need to be adjusted.

You can adjust uPVC hinges by using an Allen key on the side facing the door of the hinge and turning it clockwise to tighten (lift) or counter-clockwise to loosen (lower). Repeat this process until the door closes and opens without creaking noises.
